Accountability is at the core of our campaign because New Yorkers deserve to know where their money is going. With a staggering $112 billion budget, our city has too often wasted taxpayer dollars on ineffective and costly initiatives instead of investing in pragmatic solutions that deliver real results. Every dollar spent should serve our communities, enhance public safety, and improve daily life<h4>Reinvent Government </h4>Technology is outpacing government.&nbsp; I’ll work to modernize City services and agencies to better serve us, and make government more efficient. &nbsp; We need a City Council member that understands both the risks and opportunities created by technology.&nbsp; I have the background to ensure that City agencies are using the best tools available and employing strong cybersecurity measures.<h4>Stand Up to Extremism</h4>With the devastating results of the 2024 Presidential and Congressional Elections, local governance is more important than ever.&nbsp;&nbsp;From healthcare and education to public safety and women’s rights, I will be a leader fighting for the concerns of all New Yorkers.&nbsp; We will face potential cuts of federal funding, attacks on affordable housing and transit, and draconian assaults on reproductive and LGBTQ+ rights. I have the temperment, experience, and true New York moxie to face up to Republican attacks on our City.&nbsp;&nbsp; Enshrining a right to equal treatment in our Constitution through Prop 1 was a much needed first step, and I am proud of my work campaigning for this important ballot initiative.&nbsp; I am committed to going further and fighting for better access and support for reproductive care, protections for our doctors and other health care workers, and stricter enforcement of equality laws on the City level.<h4>Clean Up City Government</h4>With the 2025 budget over $112 billion, New York City runs the largest local government in the country.&nbsp; The city spends more taxpayer dollars than all but a handful of states.&nbsp;&nbsp; To ensure good government, we need to increase transparency and oversight of City Hall and city agencies.&nbsp; I will be a fighter for New Yorkers tackling waste and fraud, ensuring every dollar in the budget is spent exactly where it’s needed. At City Hall, I’ll fight for greater Council and Comptroller oversight of City government, including advise-and-consent confirmations for those appointed to lead key City agencies like the NYPD and Department of Education.&nbsp;&nbsp; <h4>Protect Public Safety </h4>No City government function is more important than protecting the lives and well-being of New Yorkers.&nbsp; As a Council Member, I’ll prioritize keeping our streets, our schools, and our mass transit system safe.&nbsp;I’ll fight to ensure that police precincts and firehouses serving our district have the resources they need to protect our neighborhoods, including community policing and expanded foot patrols. I’ll work to deliver support for programs to prevent domestic violence. We need to fight antisemitism and hate crimes. Lastly, I’ll work with local businesses to combat retail theft, the largest category of crime in our district.Further, with pedestrian fatalities on the rise on the East Side and in midtown, we also need greater enforcement and infrastructure improvements to keep New Yorkers safe.&nbsp; Safe streets must be a top priority, including more traffic-calming measures and better regulation of e-bikes.&nbsp; I’m calling for legislation enacting stricter penalties on the sale and use of fraudulent or “ghost” license plates.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Accountability

Affordability is a cornerstone of our campaign because every New Yorker deserves a city they can afford to call home. The cost of housing in our city is out of control, with median rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Manhattan exceeding $4,500 a month. Teachers, transit workers, firefighters—the people who keep our city running—are being priced out of their own communities.<h4>Fight for Affordable, Accessible Housing </h4>New York has become increasingly unaffordable, particularly when it comes to housing.&nbsp; We must confront the affordable housing crisis head on, while protecting tenants, saving existing affordable housing, and maintaining neighborhoods’ ability to preserve their quality of life and historic character.&nbsp;<h4>Preserve Neighborhood Livability </h4>Keeping our neighborhoods clean is a critical priority for our public health and quality of life.&nbsp; I’ll use my voice at City Hall to ensure that the Sanitation Department has the resources to clean up street trash, fund more rodent-resistant garbage receptacles, and reduce the rat population.&nbsp; I will also work to preserve the historic character of the neighborhoods.&nbsp; As an avid runner, I use our parks every season, and Central Park has been my backyard my entire life.&nbsp; I know how important parks and open public space are to New Yorkers, and I’ll fight to protect and expand our communities’ parks and green space.&nbsp; On the Council, I’ll work to obtain more capital and operating funding for maintenance and programs in our parks and on the East River Esplanade, plant more trees across the East Side, and promote environmental sustainability. <h4>Access to Health Care</h4>Access to affordable quality health care is a critical need.&nbsp; The planned closure of Beth Israel hospital is already threatening to overwhelm other hospital emergency departments in lower and midtown Manhattan, and we must work to ensure that New Yorkers have ready access to affordable medical services.&nbsp; I’ll fight to ensure that East Siders have ready access to affordable health care, for more openness and transparency in health care pricing, for funding for programs serving&nbsp; health, reproductive health services, and LGBTQ+ health. And we need to expand programs for mental health and serving people with disabilities.<h4>Grow the Local Economy&nbsp;</h4>To support New York’s long term economic health and increase equitability, the City needs to diversify our economy to support a diversity of sectors. I’ll apply my experience working on government programs, public-private partnerships, and in the tech sector to improve New York City’s economic climate for small and start-up businesses that are principal drivers of job growth.&nbsp;

Accessibility is about building a city where every New Yorker can fully participate in daily life. Investing in accessibility doesn’t just help individuals—it strengthens entire neighborhoods and supports our cultural and economic vitality. <h4>Accessible Technology&nbsp;</h4>Technology offers a tremendous opportunity to break down barriers. I’ve seen this first hand through my work at a major technology firm, where I developed a product to help the blind and vision impaired navigate the world. I am committed to leveraging assistive technology and innovative tools to make city services more accessible. This includes modernizing websites and apps to meet accessibility standards, and creating citywide initiatives to test and implement emerging tech solutions. I’m proud to say that my website has an 100% accessibility score. In office, I’d ensure the same for all our government websites.&nbsp;<h4>Employment Discrimination</h4>Employment discrimination against people with disabilities remains a persistent issue in New York City, especially in city government. Despite existing laws, people with disabilities face significant barriers to equal employment opportunities, including bias and lack of accommodations. I will fight to ensure the city enforces anti-discrimination laws and creates partnerships with businesses to increase employment opportunities for people with disabilities.&nbsp;<h4>Lead on Education</h4>With COVID, social media, and overcrowded classrooms leading to a crisis affecting students’ education and mental health, we need to ensure that our schools have the resources they need so that all students can succeed.&nbsp; In my volunteer work with Teach for America, I was able to see the long-term difference investing in education can make in a person’s life.&nbsp;&nbsp;New York City needs to be a leader on education issues. I’ll fight to ensure that the City follows through on its ambitious universal PreK and 3K initiatives, and to expand classroom seats and dedicate more resources for STEM education.&nbsp; We must invest resources in early childhood programs and the education of students with disabilities, and make students and educators safer by funding security cameras in all our schools.&nbsp;All kids deserve a quality education in appropriately sized classes free from anti-semitic, racist, or any other form of bullying, and I am committed to providing the funding to ensure they get it.<h4>Get Transit Working</h4>New York’s mass transit system remains badly underfunded, threatening our economic recovery and our quality of life. I will push the MTA to improve ADA accessibility and complete the Second Avenue subway.&nbsp;&nbsp;The lack of accessibility in our public transit system is unacceptable. The Lexington Avenue 4/5/6 line—the busiest in the country—remains largely inaccessible, with six stations in District 4 lacking ADA compliance. I will push for accelerated investment in subway elevators, escalators, and ramps, ensuring the MTA meets accessibility standards for all riders. All 140 million Green Line riders will greatly benefit from increased accessibility.Without ADA accessible stations throughout the system, our mass transit simply does not work for many New Yorkers with disabilities, parents with strollers, and mobility-impaired seniors. Full accessibility for all New Yorkers must be a top priority for City and transit planners.&nbsp;&nbsp;Council Members must pressure the State and City to get our mass transit system the funding it needs, including Phase 2 and 3 of the Second Avenue Subway.&nbsp; I’ll also fight for more bus shelters throughout our district and upgrades on crosstown bus routes.&nbsp;&nbsp;<h4>Support Seniors</h4>All too often, senior citizens are forgotten New Yorkers.&nbsp; I’ll fight for more funding for senior services for vital programs serving our district like those at the Stein Senior Center and the Carter Burden Network.Seniors are particularly vulnerable when it comes to public and pedestrian safety, and as a City Council Member, I’ll be a voice for elderly New Yorkers.So much of what we love about New York City is the direct legacy of our senior citizen neighbors, they literally have built the City we all enjoy today, so I believe adamantly that we have a responsibility to provide this City services to help them age in place.
